Biography
Thirteen years on from the birth of one of Ireland's best traditional
music groups, North Cregg continue to produce some of the freshest and
finest sounds to be heard in Irish Music today.
Rooted in the vibrant traditional music of their native County Cork, North
Cregg embraces musical influences from around the world to create one
of the most distinctive and charismatic voices in Irish music.
The stunning vocals of Claire Anne Lynch mesmerise with beautifully crafted
interpretations of contemporary and traditional Irish gems. Accordionist
and Master of Ceremonies, Christy Leahy, leads the way with spirited tunes
alongside the dazzling fiddle and banjo playing of Liam Flanagan. Groove
masters Ciaran Coughlan on swing piano and Martin Leahy, on drums and
guitar, create one of the tightest and hottest rhythm sections in Irish
music.
Together, the North Cregg experience is a finely tuned engine packed with
humour, spontaneity and, above all, great music!
With past appearances at prestigious music events such as Glastonbury
Festival, Milwaukee Irish Fest, T�nder Festival Denmark, Cambridge Festival,
Celtic Connections Glasgow and hundreds more besides, North Cregg are
one of the most popular live acts in the world of folk music today.
The band have produced four critically acclaimed and award winning albums, releasing their most successful album to date, The Roseland Barndance, in 2007.
